As I mentioned in my last blog, I was unsure and lost on the direction of where my research was going and what specifically I was going to focus on in pediatrics. Thankfully, last week when completing my annotated bibliography assignment over 5 sources, I was successful in finding a narrowed down focus of my topic of study which is pediatric general surgery. It was difficult finding research and articles about general surgery and not about a specialized type of surgeon like orthopedics or a cardiovascular surgeon. I did manage to find a few sources about general surgery, however and learned a lot about what measures are taken after surgery and some recent medical developments on how to improve performance and patient satisfaction. I am more interested in trying to figure out what types of surgeries a general surgeon can perform and trying to figure out where the overlapping of procedures ends between a general surgeon and a specialized one.
Moving past my research assessments, I have been pretty successful in completing my blogs, although it is only the second of doing this. This week I intend to continue researching and finding more articles that apply to my topic so that I am able to get a better idea of what I want my final project to look like and be about.
