I have finally bought some Crayola air-dry model clay to use for my model of laparoscopic appendectomy surgery. It was honestly pretty hard figuring out where to start and even how to start. I decided to just go for it and at the end I compared it to the image I was using as reference and it unfortunately looked like a big clump of clay. I had to go back and try to reshape it by defining the pieces I attached and smoothing everything out. At the end, it did resemble the image I was referring to, but I know I will have to go back and fix it more. I put it in a plastic bag to keep it moist and prevent it from drying out.

I plan on asking my friends and classmates about their thoughts and whether they think I should add anything else in or make any adjustments to the model itself. My future plans will be to get the appropriate paint suitable for painting clay so that it does not chip. I will also need to double check the anatomy just to ensure that it is accurate. I also need to continue conducting interviews and finally decide on who I want to mentor me.
